There is no Spoon – Wellbeing in the Age of Wicked Problems

This is the age of lifestyle. And that has turned our problems wicked. Human behaviour has become the prime focus of all production, design and politics. In humans, we believe, lies the solutions to wicked problems.

We invite you for a lecture series in Wicked Problems:

  • Wednesday 24th August 13:15 Keynote: Design for things that matter – John Thackara
  • Thursday 25th August 10:00 There is no spoon – The age of wicked problems – Aleksi Neuvonen
  • Monday 29th August 13:00 Happy campers: Designing wellbeing – Tommi Laitio
  • Wednesday 31st August 09:30 What really matters: Natural resources and human lifestyles – Tuuli Kaskinen

Demos Helsinki and Aalto University’s Department of Design invite you for an open lecture series. Any of the talks will help you forward in human-centric thinking and action towards tackling with wicked problems. All lectures are roughly one hour of lenght. You will find videos of the lectures and tons of design work based on them here.

After this lecture-series you will hopefully know a little bit more human behaviour, systems thinking, material lifestyles, happiness and the future.

The open lectures are in english and a part of the Keynote-course for all new MA Design Students of Aalto University. More information from the course director Toni Kauppila: toni.kauppila(a)aalto.fi
