Lyyli Salovaara
Lyyli is driven by her sociological imagination and believes that today, this imagination must also extend beyond the tangible world. With an interest in digital sociology, she is your go-to person for exploring how technology and digital communities can be harnessed to create more equal, sustainable, responsible and healthy societies.
Lyyli holds an MA in Sociology from the University of Edinburgh and her academic interests combine themes of digitalization, social networks, nationhood, and ethnography. She is also interested in the sociology and anthropology of health and care. Before her time at Demos Helsinki, she worked in IT recruitment, which gave her practical insight and a new angle into the world of technology and data.
After work, Lyyli is likely unwinding at an exercise class, brainstorming new vegetarian dinners, or reading. She is often in the middle of a few different novels at a time – variety really is the spice of life for her! She can occasionally be found exploring Vienna, Austria, which her family now calls home.
