Liisa Perjo
Liisa is a social scientist who is interested in what it takes to bring European cities into the planetary boundaries in a just and inclusive way. In her work, she analyses, but also practically supports, planning, policy and practices for collective action towards just and sustainable climate transitions.
Before joining Demos, Liisa has been doing qualitative applied research on policy, governance, and urban planning at Nordic and Swedish research institutes. In addition to her research experience, she has been promoting urban climate transitions at an environmental NGO and at a regional spatial planning department.
At Demos Helsinki, Liisa is part of the NetZeroCities Horizon Europe initiative and the MaterialDemocracy project which is funded by the Strategic Research Council. She is also involved in various other projects, for instance looking at how to ensure affordable housing at times of increasing housing demand, while respecting the planetary boundaries.
Right now, Liisa enjoys being back in Helsinki after living abroad for more than a decade. She had really missed the Finnish chocolate scene and you can now often find her by the Pätkis and Fazerina shelves at the corner shop.
