Satu’s expertise lies in sustainability transformations, especially sustainable development and the SDGs, circular economy, 1.5 degree lifestyles, and co-design for sustainable transitions. She is an experienced researcher and consultant with 15 years of experience in transdisciplinary topics, including co-creating future visions and transition pathways as well as supporting different organisations with their sustainability journeys. She is a professional facilitator and enjoys leading multi-stakeholder projects.
Satu holds a master’s degree in Geography and urban planning from the University of Helsinki. Currently, she is finalising her PhD at Aalto University’s department of design on co-design and sustainability transformations. Prior to joining Demos Helsinki in 2011, Satu worked with topics related to sustainable consumption and production at the CSCP in Wuppertal, Germany, as well as at Finnish environmental NGOs.
Satu is currently leading Demos Helsinki’s part in an EU Horizon project, LIKE A PRO. In addition, she supports the Finnish Ministry of the Environment in co-creating a voluntary Circular Economy Green Deal.
In her free time, Satu dreams of becoming a proper winter swimmer and is off to a great start.
