Satu Lähteenoja

Satu’s expertise lies in sustainability transformations, especially sustainable development, circular economy, 1.5-degree lifestyles and environmental policies. She is an experienced researcher and consultant with more than 15 years of experience in transdisciplinary topics, including co-creating future visions and transition pathways as well as supporting different organisations with their sustainability journeys. She is a professional facilitator and enjoys leading multi-stakeholder projects.

Satu holds a Doctor of Arts degree from Aalto University and a Master’s degree in Geography and Urban Planning from the University of Helsinki. Satu is currently leading Demos Helsinki’s part in an EU Horizon project, LIKE A PRO, and studies sufficiency solutions in the SRC project SISU. In addition to working as a leading researcher at Demos Helsinki, she studies the possibilities of co-design in advancing sustainability transformations as a postdoctoral researcher in Aalto University’s NODUS Sustainable Design Research Group

Prior to joining Demos Helsinki, Satu worked with topics related to sustainable consumption and production at the CSCP in Wuppertal, Germany, as well as at Finnish environmental NGOs.

In her free time, you can find Satu gardening, swimming, jogging, skiing, or cheering her kids on the sidelines of football fields.
