Salla Kässi
In a world full of information, knowledge brokers and communicators are needed to make scientific knowledge stand out and have an impact. This is what Salla strives for as an expert on science communication and societal interaction. In her work, she enjoys making people think, discuss, and thrive while making complex research topics understandable and accessible for everyone.
At Demos Helsinki, Salla splits her time between the SRC-funded research projects MUST and SISU both of which aim for just sustainability transitions.
Before joining Demos Helsinki, Salla was a science communicator at the Finnish Society of Sport Sciences. Having a background as a social scientist, she has previously worked and volunteered for several non-profit organizations that promote human well-being and aim for a socially sustainable society.
In addition to the day job, Salla is a doctoral researcher doing her PhD on the topic of organization-oriented science communication and its related changes and tensions from the point of view of professionalization. The PhD journey has led her to teach science communication for a bit, too.
