Kari Jalonen
Kari Jalonen is an organisational researcher whose work at Demos Helsinki focuses on planning, performing and developing the research operations at Demos Helsinki. Kari defended his Ph.D.(Econ.) on city strategy at the Hanken School of Economics in 2017, and has since worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Stanford University and Aalto University.
Kari’s core competencies include:
- Strategic management and strategy work in public-sector organisations
- Role of language use in cooperation and conflict
- Organizational action in complex institutional settings
Kari’s research interest lies in the creation of shared meaning in organizations, and the practices of strategy in public-sector organizations. His current work studies the crafting of a collective strategy in a city organization as a dialogue between different institutional perspectives, showing how these are continuously brought together to coordinate organizational action and craft shared understanding. His work has been published at top research outlets such as the Strategic Management Journal and Qualitative Inquiry.
