Selina Sarantila

Selina is a devout optimist, convinced that a better world is not only possible, but already in the making. In the face of global challenges, she sees empathy and compassion not as soft ideals but as strategic tools for building bold alliances across unexpected lines.

Her academic and professional interests lie in the economics of wellbeing and sustainability: how to build systems that are dynamic, innovative, and designed for long-term resilience rather than short-term gain.

Selina holds a BSc in Development Studies from Lund University, with a strong foundation in economic history and economics. Her thesis took her to Tanzania, where she spent two months researching the institutional dynamics of sustainable agricultural intensification and development within the smallholder sector. These academic experiences are grounded in hands-on work: from representing youth voices in public debates and leading sustainability efforts within her university community to grassroots environmental activism.

Outside of work, Selina resets through yoga, meditation, and time in nature. Additionally, she enjoys learning about music traditions from around the world, exploring how sound carries memory, identity, and imagination across generations.
