Sahib Singh
Sahib spends his time at Demos Helsinki’s preoccupied by just democratic futures and global governance. At the moment he won’t stop nattering about the need to think systemically and critically about democratic innovations, the political economy of global governance institutions and modes of effective alliance building. At his best, Sahib’s contributions reflect a unique blend of strategic vision and scholarly depth.
Fighting against structural injustices has been central to Sahib’s work – whether through advocacy, practice, teaching and writing. Prior to joining Demos Helsinki, Sahib researched and taught international law and international relations at the Universities of Cambridge, Helsinki and Tilburg. His international legal practice spans work on death penalty and torture cases, advice to United Nations entities and work for States before international tribunals.
At Demos Helsinki, Sahib leads cutting-edge work on democratic futures whilst drawing inspiration from practices and theories of radical egalitarianism and the possibilities of deep structural transformation. When not nattering, you’ll find him trying to live across several countries, wanting to draw people into political and philosophical conversations, hugging his dog and nowadays…knitting.
