Martin Pettersson

Martin Pettersson

Martin is a historian who is especially interested in how people in the past have imagined their pasts, futures and presents. He holds a PhD from the University of Helsinki and is specialized in experiences and articulations of time, conceptual history and the study of political language.

In his PhD, Martin studied imagined futures in Finnish parliamentary debate during the latter 20th century, and he has conducted research within the Research Council of Finland funded Political Temporalities (POLTE) project. He also has experience in university teaching, coordination work and digital humanities. He has published articles on the concepts of empathy, values, and quality of life in political rhetoric.

After hours, Martin plays very loud and moderately dangerous sounding live music, reads fiction sporadically, and tries to become a half-decent cook.
