Annika Ranin is our expert from within the film industry. With a solid understanding of international film business and story development, she works to build links between societal insight and cinema.

Prior to Demos Helsinki, she worked in international film finance and as an independent film producer. She is story-driven and firmly believes that film as a medium has immense potential to change attitudes. That is why she loves cinema; it is an unparalleled empathy machine and has the power to transfer complexities into relatable human stories. She is driven by the capacity of film to drive positive societal change.

Annika shares her time between London and Helsinki. In her free time, Annika consumes cinema and enjoys long, slow days spent exploring London’s many museums. However, she also enjoys her break from the noise; a perfect weekend would be spent in a cabin by the lake.
