34th Economic Forum: “Time of Transition — What Future for Europe?”

This week, policymakers, researchers, business leaders, and civil society representatives will gather at the 34th Economic Forum in Karpacz to debate Europe’s Future from every angle: AI cybersecurity, healthcare, international politics and security, social changes, economic development trends, and the transition toward a sustainable future.

As part of this lively and diverse discussion, Demos Helsinki will organise a panel “The Future We Share: How Changing the Social Contract can Support a Just Transition?” As Europe works toward a greener economy and fairer society, the basic understanding of what people expect from their governments — and what’s expected of them — is starting to shift.

The panel will explore:

  • How different countries are rethinking the balance of rights and responsibilities
  • What new roles governments, businesses, communities, and citizens are taking on
  • The risks of leaving people behind, and how to prevent it.

The panel is moderated by our Senior Expert Olli Bremer.

The speakers include:

  • prof. Ewa Okon-Horodynska, Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland
  • Pawel Bartoszek, Member of Parliament, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Althing – Parliament of Iceland, Iceland
  • Marie Trellu-Kane, Executive President and Co-founder, Unis-Cite, France
  • Adam Zych, President of the Board, Project PL Foundation, Poland
