Chloe Ang
Chloe is a fervent believer in the power of joy. Tackling the larger inquiry of how we can integrate joy into the way we live and work is an endeavour they acknowledge will last a lifetime. The avenue to attain such insight, Chloe believes, lies in governance and rethinking the systems that we often take for granted.
Before Demos Helsinki, Chloe embarked on their journey as a stubborn generalist. Raised in Singapore, they hold a Master in Public Policy and a Bachelor of Arts degree (major in Philosophy) from the National University of Singapore. Their Master’s thesis examined the interplay between fiscal and employment policies surrounding Indonesia’s new capital city, Ibu Kota Nusantara. Their educational background is accompanied by an array of experiences in bioethics, policy, childcare, sustainability, and communications. Their fascination with myriad perspectives and complexity led them to the beautiful city of Helsinki, where they hope to learn more about the future of governance and civic participation.
At Demos Helsinki, Chloe has been involved in projects such as CO3, which explores open, inclusive, and democratic models of social contracts in times of polycrisis, and Sun4Ukraine, which supports Ukrainian cities in incorporating climate neutrality into reconstruction and development efforts.
In their spare time, they do yoga, reminisce about Malaysian chilli pan mee, spend extensive amounts of time on Baldur’s Gate 3, and listen to Thai pop (their favourite song is “ที่ปรึกษา”, which translates to “Consultant”!)
