Emilia Laine works in the Transformative Governance team. At Demos Helsinki, she is currently focusing on the governance issues of ecological transition and future health crises and well as the promotion of the Circular Economy. Emilia’s professional interests include:
- Applying new economic thinking to mitigate the Constellation of ecological crises
- Sociotechnical requirements for the transition towards regenerative food systems
- Rethinking the role of education and citizen activism in the ecological transition
Emilia holds a bachelor’s degree in Political History and is currently finalizing a Master’s degree in Global Sustainability at the University of Helsinki. Her Master’s thesis focuses on future visions of cellular agriculture and its potential role in revolutionizing multispecies relations. Academically, she considers herself at home in the field of Feminist science and technology studies within which she is specifically interested in microbes as social Actors and fermentation as a Feminist practice.
Prior to Demos Helsinki, Emilia has gained professional experience in education and consulting, and she aspires to combine those sectors in her future work.
